The graph below presents the employment patterns in the USA between 1930 and 2010.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting on the features, and make comparisons where relevant.
1. Idea cho overview
Vẫn như thường lệ, mình sẽ tìm thông tin chính theo trend và lớn nhất/nhỏ nhất nha, ở đề này mình còn có thể đưa thông tin ‘line nào thay đổi nhiều nhất’ nữa.
1. Trend: Mình thấy lĩnh vực ‘industrial’ ‘technical’ và ‘sales and office’ tăng và trở thành 3 ngành lớn nhất, còn ‘farming, fishing and foresting’ thì giảm.
2. Về lớn nhất/nhỏ nhất: Bài này không có line nào cao hoặc thấp hơn hẳn các line khác trong cả giai đoạn, bù lại mình có ‘farming, fishing and foresting’ thay đổi rất mạnh so với các line khác => thông tin này có thể đưa vào overview nhé mọi người.
2. Cách phân 2 body
Với bài line chúng mình có thể phân body theo năm, hoặc phân theo line đều được nhé mọi người. Tuy nhiên, khi dạy ở trung tâm IELTS 1984, và cả khi biên soạn tạp chí IELTS Insights, chúng mình cũng đều chọn một cách tiếp cận nhất quán, đó là phân body theo line nha.
Ở đây có 2 nhóm là 3 line tăng, 1 line giảm mạnh, còn ‘other services’ thì đi ngang, nên chúng mình gom 3 line tăng vô body 1 cho đơn giản, và body 2 là 2 line còn lại. Viết như này cũng tạo mạch lạc với phần overview tốt luôn nha.
3. Cách lần lượt tả từng câu
Với bài line thì cách tả thường rất đơn giản, mình so sánh dữ liệu năm đầu của các line trong body đó, sau đó lần lượt tả thời gian còn lại của các line ra. Lưu ý là dữ liệu năm đầu và năm cuối là rất quan trọng, mình luôn luôn đưa vào khi tả nhé mọi người.
Body 1
Do tả lần lượt 3 line sẽ quá dài, nên mình gom 2 line giống nhau là technical và sales and office vô để tả chung nhé mọi người.
(Câu 1) So sánh dữ liệu năm đầu (năm 1930) của 3 line (0%, 1% và 10%) => (Câu 2) Tả thời gian còn lại của line Industry: đi ngang + tăng đều lên mức cao nhất 35% vào năm cuối => (Câu 3) 2 line technical và sales and office: nhìn chung hết thì là tăng đều qua giai đoạn đề cho + tả dữ liệu năm cuối.
Body 2
(Câu 1) Tả farming, fishing and foresting là năm đầu cao nhất + data, sau đó giảm mạnh, và năm cuối là thấp nhất => (Câu 2) Other services: trong 10 năm đầu tăng từ 10% lên 15%, sau đó giảm lại về 10% và duy trì quanh mức này.
4. Paraphrasing
Trong bài này chúng mình sẽ lặp rất nhiều lần từ ‘ngành nghề’, mình có thể linh hoạt để diễn đạt ý ‘ngành nghề X’ hoặc ‘làm việc ở ngành X’ bằng các từ như:
employer || sector || industry || be engaged in + technical jobs || pursue + sales and office + occupations || sales and office + positions || occupation(s)

The line graph gives information about the proportion of American workers employed in various sectors from 1930 to 2010.
Overall, throughout the given period, the industrial, technical, and sales and office sectors emerged as major employers. In contrast, there was a sharp downward trend in the agricultural sector, falling from by far the most popular sector to the least by the end of the timeframe.
Regarding industries that gained in popularity, in 1930, virtually no Americans were engaged in industrial and technical jobs, and only 10% pursued sales and office occupations. Thereafter, after having remained consistent until 1960, the industrial sector began attracting more workers, with its percentages rising gradually, ending up at its highest level of nearly 35% in both 2000 and 2010. Similar upward trends were also witnessed in technical and sales and office positions, as their participation rates underwent steady increases overall, to around 30% and 20% respectively in the final year, making them the second and third most common occupations.
On the other hand, despite being the dominant industry in 1930, with approximately 75% of the labour force employed in farming, fishing and foresting, this sector saw a dramatic drop over the years, reaching a low of only 5% in 2010. Finally, the percentage of workers in other services rose from 10% to 15% in the first decade, then then fell back to a relatively stable level of around 10% for the rest of the period. (240 words)
